I had to drill a few holes for drainage, but that was easy to do as I had the tools. I first drilled a smaller hole and then used a 1/4'' drill bit starting of slowly to "carve" away the plastic hole to the correct size. None of my pots cracked. I would have preferred the foot to be a little bit taller, so that the water that drained didn't sit right at the drain holes. I added a few rocks under it give it a bit of clearance.
